I think demonstrations cannot change things, but move them forward. Indeed, the demonstrations make it possible to show that things are not going well in the republic, here the retirement. If no one will demonstrate, the state will not suspect that anything is wrong. To conclude, demonstrating is important although it does not change things immediately but over several years. Lola C.
I think demonstrations can lead to changes. In history, if people didn't show their disagreement, a lot of things would be different today. Demonstrating is showing that you don't agree with what is happening in your country at the moment and people fought to give us the right to do it. Sadly, the government doesn't seem to listen to these protestations when it should take into account the opinion of the people who constitute the society. So I think that demonstrations can make things change but only if the people concerned act and if the government decides to listen.
I think that in today's republic demonstations have little impact. In the past very violent demonstrations had an effect but now not too much. The proof with "les gilets jaunes". They protested for months and got nothing. On the contrary, the damage committed had an impact on people who had nothing to do with it. For the retraitement I think it is the same. In addition, the government only reacts out of fear and the current demonstrations are peaceful, so I don't think that will change anything. Demonstrations are a way of showing that the people do not agree with the decisions. I think they can have an effect for some decisions but not those concerning money and the government budget. In my opinion, demonstrations can change things but not immediately. When they last too long and when millions of peoples are concerned the government must take mesures to stop and change his decision. For instance, the protest in France is against retirement at 64 years at the same time in Israel Benyamin Netanyahou has been obliged to give up his justices reform .
In my opinion, demonstrations can change the vision of the country but in the long time. Indeed, as we can see with the pension reform, nowadays it's more difficult to change laws and government decisions, especially those that have an impact on the state economy. Even if demonstrations prove more and more the discontent of the people with the government, it seems to me that France is a country in crisis for a some time now and that it only gets worse on some subjects. As a result the country is becoming more divided and mentalities are more often opposed. But for the good of the nation, which is only the meeting of woman and man, and for the common good, I believe that at some point the French Republic will wake up in order to be in agreement with all citizens to improve the conditions of life, of work and of the country ; and above all to shine on the international scene as it did before. Thus, I think it's important to continue to demonstrate, to defend one's ideas and to change people's mentalities so that everyone can live together.
