ReplyDeleteI think you should buy Alicia a guitar. Indeed, Alicia has always wanted to have one, but she never managed to have enough money to buy one. Moreover, this is a gift that she won't forget, as she will be able to use it everyday (unlike a box of chocolates that you can only eat once...). I also advise you not to tell her what you want to give her for her birthday : if it's a surprise, she will be very glad when she will see what you've bought her !

Then I remembered a very important thing: Alicia loves dogs!
Furthermore, she was very sad when her dog died, 1 year ago, and since, she is not the same person.
That's why I think you should give her a dog for her birthday, she will be very happy. But it's my advice, if you have a better idea, go ahead, I trust you!

For example, for the first month, you choose a word that allows you to see your best friend for the first time and you put in the days the special things you did together for the first time. It would be kind from you if you give me few other details about her for example what she likes or on the contrary what she hates. But if someone had to buy me a present that I'll remember for a long time I would be so exited to get a frame full of pictures on which there are both me and the person who brought me the present. And this gift would be an incredible memory !

Knowing Alicia, she would like something practical too (besides unusual) so if you want to surprise her, unique pens with a strange apparence or with an animal shape might be a good idea. Although if I were you, I would either buy her a necklace whose pendant symbolizes a memory of yours or a made to measure hat as I know for a fact that she's keen on collecting them. Furthermore, you could organize a little trip : a weekend in Italy. She absolutely loves the Italian culture, language and food ! She always tells me how she's dying to go to Rome and visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa or the Colosseum.

On the other hand, if you really want to score, choose something she will have spoken to you about, which she would have forgotten (to really play on the surprise). No need for a too expensive item, it would make Alicia uncomfortable. Otherwise, if you really have no ideas, you could join us to buy the bag she wanted. But in my opinion, she would prefer something more personal.
