I'm impressed by the amount of money required to buy a painting. At least, "Salvator Mundi" is a "real" painting, "real" art. Because some people pay millions of dollars for a painting with a dot. Nothing but a dot in the center. That's completely stupid, everybody can buy a canvas and paint a dot. Personally, I would never pay so much for a painting, even if I had enough money.
As for me, I really appreciate art. I feel like art shouldn't be bought as a room decoration or for personnal use but it belongs to everyone. It should be exposed on museum in order to give everyone the same amount of culture. However, if I got that money I will not buy art but I will probably use it to create musums in poor country for them to have a equal culture as ours. It would be free and be a great socialization post which is necessary for one's growth.
Personally, I really love art, and given that a man bought this painting $450.3 Million, I think that I am not the only one. If I had enough money to buy a painting it would be The Birth of Venus painted by Sandro Botticelli. For me, this masterpiece is quintessence of occidental art. This painting is very beautiful, and I am very happy that this major painting is in a museum, in the sight of all.
I think that, art is a reflection of the soul of the painter and the mirror of society in which he lives. If I had the money I would buy "Nighthawks" from E. Hopper because I find this work beautiful and I think it reflects the loneliness and boredom in the United States in 1940.
Hello ! I think I wouldn't be at ease if I had a reknown painting in my own room, it would be really weird... However, I like going to muséums because you can get informations about the artworks, that you don't have if you just see the painting in your room. Anyway, if I could buy a painting, I think that I would by René Magritte's painting that features a bird flying over the sea in the night (and the bird's body is made up of a daytime-like sky with clouds). But I also think I would give it to a museum, in order to share it with everyone, because to my mind culture is by definition something everyone should have access to.

Hello! I think art can be bought because the painter spends a lot of time on his work, so he deserves to make money with his creations. However, if rich people bought all the paintings, there would be no museum, which would be sad. Personally if I had this money I would buy "La pie" by Claude Monet because I love this painter and his paintings.
Like Aurelien said, I wouldn't like to buy some paintings, because if I had $450,3 Million, I wouldn't buy it. If I had this money, I would give it to help the poor, the destitute people, to charities and to help cancer research. If I had the money, I would do it because I would like people to do it for me. So, I wouldn't buy paintings, because I think that is stupid to buy a painting so expensive, even if it's from a celebrate painter and even if it's beautiful, because a lot of people need this money to live.
I consider myself as an art-lover, (if I can say that), I found it really interesting in the way that there is nearly always a story behind it, mainly in paintings, even when the artist is just expressing his feelings. However, if I had enough money, I'm not sure I would buy one, I would be too afraid to break it, spoil it or even be stole. But if I really had to, I think it would be "La Nuit étoilée" by Vincent van Gogh : I'm in love with the shapes in the sky, and on top of that, I feel like it conveys feelings of calm or serenity.
Hi, I see eye to eye with Aurelien, that amount of money is astonishing for a painting. And even for a Da Vinci, I wouldn't pay as much. Moreover last summer, I went to the National Gallery in London and it was quite a sight, however I felt like I couldn't take time to really appreciate it (too much people and noises), that's why I think art can be better enjoyed in private. For example, if I were rich enough, I would buy one of the paintings of Alexander Votsmush, Julian Onderdonk or Katsushika Hokusai. Votsmush for his inventive boats, Onderdonk for his colorful sceneries and Hokusai for his deeply detailed representations of Japan (at his time).
This week the Da Vinci painting named "Salvator Mundi" was sold for $450.3 Million… - To my mind, I think that this world record is a little bit exaggerated but everyone has the right to spend their money as they wish. - As for me if I had enough money to buy a painting it would be “Liberty leading the people” by Eugène Delacroix because we can see Marianne in top of this painting, she symbolize liberty, free people, women and also the republic.
I am very amazed because of the price of the painting "Salvator Mundi". For me painting, whoever are the painter and his reputation, should not reach a such amount, it's implausible, and we find the same thing in other areas such as football. Furthermore, I'm not an art lover, I don't particularly like museums so even if I had enough money, I would never spend so much on a piece of art. But if I really had to choose, I would choose a modern art painting in the style of "street art", because I really like this kind of painting that denounces the problems of society in an original, colorful style.

Hello! If I had the money I would buy « Le déjeuner sur l’herbe » by Claude Monet because I love Impressionists paintings and particularly this painter. This painting remembers me good memories from my childhood when I lived in Chatou (suburb of Paris). Indeed, the scene of the painting takes place at Chatou on the Isle of the Impressionists, where I used to play when I was a child. Futhermore, every times I see « Le déjeuner sur l’herbe » I feel better and it makes me happy because it’s an innocent and beautiful work of art. I am quite a stressed person and when I see it this painting prevents me from being anxious. The autumn colors of the painting are very soothing to me and it brings me also some comfort. I think we all need something that soothe us like that. For me it is a painting, but maybe for you it’ll be a song like Silent Night we study in class... Elena Herpe 2nd1
First of all, I have a huge preference for Modern Art even if I like Art in general. Moreover, what I like the most is scuptures and mainly the big ones. Regarding the colors, I prefer black or white sculptures or with a few colors touches.
However, I fell in love with the art of an artist called Miko-R. He makes big sculptures such as big apples or big bears with a lot of colors mainly like tags. For such pieces of art, I would be ready to pay a big amount because it is also an investment for the future.
I would like to add that, when I was in Detroit-Michigan during last summer, I discover Street Art. This is amazing to see how the artists can tell stories by painting and tagging on the walls in the city! And, fortunately, this is a kind of art that you can enjoy even if you are not rich!
Hi! I totally agree with Aurelien, I think that it's a bit crazy to spend so much money for a painting with a dot in the center, because anyone could do that. I think that if I had enough money I would buy a Monet painting, as in my opinion, his art is wonderful! If I could, I would buy "Impression, soleil levant" because the landscape seems so calm. I love the way Monet reflects the sun on the water, and the way he uses darker colors makes the boats seem lost in the background. "Impression, soleil levant" represents the harbor of Le Havre, Monet's hometown, and is his most famous painting of it. The two small rowboats in the foreground, and the red sun, are the focal point. In conclusion, I just love the way Monet paints, that's why I would buy his art if I had enough money!
First, I really like all domains which are considered as art but my favorite one is painting. Art is the mirror of the thought because artists see same things but paint it in a different way. You know that's a great painting when had some emotions when you see it. And art can help charity association so sometimes those incredible prices are necessary. Finally I really like when paintings are complex and colored. So if I were enough rich I would buy "Der Kuss" of the symbolist author Gustave Klimt.
Hi ! I think if, I could have a piece of art in my room, I would like to have " The Big Wave" by Katsushika Hokusai. But this painting is really old so I think it's better to keep it in a museum.Old paintings need to be in museums so that some people can properly take care of them and not let time destroy those beautiful pieces of art.

I am very amazed because of the price of the painting "Salvator Mundi". As for me if I had enough money to buy a painting it would be « Mona Lisa » by Leonard De Vinci, because this is basic, simple and popular but unfortunately i don’t have all this money.
Hello, I think the price of this piece of art is scandalous! With this amount of money this person could have helped poor people! If I had money I would buy old cars like Ferrari 166S or Rolls Royce Phantom Two and I would create my old cars museum for passionated people.
Hi everyone! First of all, I love art when it makes me feel something, when it tells a story and makes me travel. For those reasons I love Monet's painting because it brings a feeling of peacefulness while being aesthetically gorgeous at the same time. And as Lea I appreciate street art and the audacity that it takes to do it because it is forbidden. Therefore, if I had enough money I would buy the Drowning Girl by Roy Lichtenstein because I love the comic-book style, and each time I look at it the quote makes me laugh
Hey, Art is what defines humans. It isn’t supposed to look nice, it’s supposed to make you feel something. And I think that paying for beautiful things is not a shame, I would rather say to go for it. So one of my favorite paintings is by Claude Monet, it’s called “ Impression, soleil levant ”.
hey, If I had a lot of money, for sure I'll never pay for a painting made by I don't know who, moreover I don't care, I prefer share this money for much more useful things, such as asociations or to fund disease research and that surely contributes to changing the world. But otherwise I like art.
