  1. Carnival is a famous and very imoortant ' celebration ' in France, especially in Nice ! Our Carnival, which is the first in France, began yesterday, the 14th of February. What does Carnival represent for me ? Which carnival do I prefer ?

To my mind, Carnival is a period like the other days of the year because I rarely go to see the Carnival ! There are always too many persons.. Moreover, I don't very like confetti and the other things like that even if I love dressing up !
However, during this period, people are very kind and a little bit crazy.
Maybe, this year, it will change because, in my school, we will celebrate the Carnival next week, so I'm very excited. It will be very funny if the teachers dress up too !
I think, I prefer Rio Carnival even if I have never been to this city but all the people in the world talk about this event, and it seems to be very great !

To conclude, Carnival is very cool and I invite people from all over the world to see this celebration in our city, Nice !

    1. Chere Clara quelques remarques sur ce que tu as ecrit:
''In my mind''/ it is a period like any other days/
person c'est pour le singulier-people est utilise pour le pluriel. comme nous en francais, une personne/ des gens.
I don't like very much confetti and other things like dressing up( even though I like dressing up)''
Parfois Clara tes phrases sont un peu longues et tu dois revoir l'ordre de tes mots.
''if teachers dress up too''. pas besoin de l'article. Nous en francais nous en avons toujours besoin, en anglais ce n'est pas la meme chose.
''people from all around the world''
      Bon travail, continuez!

  2. As Clara said before, Carnival is very famous in Nice.
There are giant, colourful parades, they take place day and night by 1000 musicians and dancers from across the world. There are two kind of parade, on one hand it's focused on flowers, it's the "Flower Battles". And on the other hand it's more focused in giant burlesque characters, the “big heads”. I don't go to the carnival each year for the same reason as Clara. However, to my mind, the most beautiful Carvinal in the word is the Carnival of Venice for the wonderful costumes, and the beautiful setting.

  3. This time, in Nice, it's the carnival ! Everybody is in fancy dress in the city, it's really funny. The carnival in Nice is the seventh most known in the world after Venice or Rio. So do I celebrate carnival in Nice ? And what does carnival represent for me?

To begin with, since two days the carnival began in Nice and for the opening day of the carnival, a famous French actor Gerard Depardieu was in our city to celebrate the first day and he paraded with everybody. The parade is beautiful, many people worked on this project who is very important for our city.
For me, carnival is above all for children but this year, I think that I'm also going to disguise, go to Flower Battles and I hope that it will be sunny !

To conclude, carnival of Nice is an important event, and on top of that there are a lot of tourists who come from far away...
And you ? Americans, Swedish, Irish... what do you think about that ? Do you celebrate carnival where you live?

    see you soon everybody !

''During this time of the year''
The Carnaval of Nice is the ... most known carnival in the world, tu as besoin de repeter le mot carnival ici.
two days ago, since ne s'utilise pas dans ce context.
''worked on this project which is'' who s'utilise plus pour des personnes.
For me, I think that for children, carnival is one of their favorite celebration.
''a lot of tourists come from all around the world.

      Bon travail,

Pour te repondre, aux USA, il y a le carnival de la Nouvelle Orleans.

  4. Carnival is an important event in France and especially in our city, Nice. So what does carnival represent for me? Which carnival do I prefer?

For my part, Carnival is a funny period because of people dressed up, beautiful parades and also the battle of flowers which is absolutely amazing! But honestly, I don't often go to the carnival even if it's pleasant. of course when I was younger, I was crazy about all this costumes, confetti and others stuffs. Even if I don't like going to the carnival every year, that is all the same something to see once in your life.

Nevertheless, Rio's carnival seems to be the best! Indeed, all these incredible parades on streets, samba's schools and talented dancers are unforgettable and so unique.

To sum up, even if I'm not crazy about this period, I would like to see the Rio's carnival!

And you Americans, do you celebrate it in the United States? If you do, do you enjoy this period? :)

  5. Carnival is a really important period because people are disguised and they danse : in one word, they have fun . Some places are more famous than others for Carnival. So, which Carnival do I prefer ? Is it celebrated in Nice ?

First of all, I've participated once to Nice Carnival : I was 6 and I celebrated it with my class. ( I was with Clara Barrau ).
But after that, I didn't do anything because it is sometimes expensive ( 35 euros for all ).
Nice is the most famous city in France for its Carnival : there are decorated cars and the most fun, for me, is « la Bataille de Fleurs » : you throw flowers everywhere . It's very beautiful.
But Nice is a touristic city and Carnival is made for tourists too so I prefer stay at home.

In conclusion, Carnival is not a special event for me but I wish I could see once in my life the Rio Carnival which is one of the best in the world !
Venice Carnival is also well-known. I'm going to see it these holidays. I'm very excited to see one of the oldest carnival ! ( 12th century)

  6. Hello everybody!
Indeed, Carnival is a special day. We can celebrate it different ways.. And it can represents something for someone and an other thing for someone else!
    How I celebrate it?

As I said before, Carnival can be celebrated different ways.. What I mean is that, the way to celebrate depends on the country, the culture, and even the personality! For instance, some people don't celebrate carnival at all and I think it's too bad because we only have one opportunity in a whole year so we can't miss it. Other people celebrate it and they are totally crazy about it! They dress up, they run in the streets and they throw things on other people like confetti!

As for me, I celebrate Carnival at school and sometimes with my family. At school, I dress up with my friends, we laugh and we dance.. It's very fun! Sometimes, I also do it with my mother and my sister, only at home or in the street to see the parade!
It represents someting very cool because everybody is happy, and everybody laugh and you laugh even with people that you don't know! You dress up and you see the parade.. You always have fun and I love it!
Carnival in nice is an important one, it is very famous. There is a big parade during several weeks, there is also a battle of flowers and other things very nice.

I've only been to Nice' carnival but I've heard a lot about Carnival in Rio and in venice and it seem to be very cool. Carnival is a big carnival and during days and days, everybody sings and dances.. Their costumes are amazing! However, even if I'd love to go there I would prefer to go to Venice carnival because their masks are very well done and it must be really wonderful.

To conclude, even if there are so many people, Carnival is one of my favourite days in the year, because everybody is happy and we do things very cool! However, a lot of people say that it is more for children.. But I don't really care because I love it! :)

  7. In Nice, we celebrate Carnival and it is one of the most famous in the world ! There is a big parade and people are disguised. There is also a battle of flowers and a lot of tourists come to see this.

There is always a theme for the parade : this year is : "the gastronomy". We also made Carnival in our high school, it was very funny and everyone was disguised, I will remember this day for a long time !

For me, Carnival represents a funny moment that I spent with my family when I was younger and with my friends now. It is a good way to get together with the people you like and I think that this tradition shouldn't be lost.

The Carnival in Venice or in Rio are very very famous too and I would really like to go there to enjoy a real big Carniva because for people who have never seen it, it's very surprising and impressive. For instance, my aunt lives in Paris and it was her first Carnival in her life and she loved it !!

So if you want to come to Nice to see the Carnival, you will be welcome !!

  9. Where i live, in Nice, we celebrate Carnaval, for me its on of the most important periods in my city. Everybody is disguised and its very funny. There is a lot of battles like battle of flowers etc...

So this year i particapated with my friends and it was very funny. In our high school, almost all pupils were disguised. The theme was "aroudn the world" but i didn't follow the theme and I disguised as a tiger.

So to me its carnival its a good way to spend time with your family/friends, to have fun and to laugh. It is one of my favourite days in the year.

Our carnival is not as well as Brasilian carnival, but we like it. We are waiting for you in nice !

  10. In the US we don't really have a specific day for a carnival. We usually have big carnivals with rides, games and more during the summer. They are really fun to go to with your friends and hang out. I bet it is a little bit in France.

  11. In the US there is not a country-wide carnival date or carnival for that matter. However, in many places, especially in New Orleans, Mardi Gras is celebrated. There are smaller carnivals and celebrations held in different cities depending on where you are in the US and what that area of the country's history is. Since the US is so big and is full of many different cultures it is difficult to have specific carnivals across the whole country.
In the summer time in my state there are a lot of fairs and festivals with rides, food, and music. They are a lot of fun but they do not take place on a holiday. I love big festivals and I want to go to New Orleans or somewhere a Carnival take's place so I can experience it. I think in France Carnival is a much bigger deal than in the US.

  12. I live in Nice so, yes, we celebrate carnival.

The most widely accepted etymology for the word "Carnival" is "carne levare" ("away with meat"). By the Middle Ages, the people of Nice, before fasting forty days according to the Catholic tradition of Lent, enjoyed rich, plentiful cuisine.

For me, carnival is a show for the children. It reminds me my childhood : colors, noises, laughters, joy and memories with my family.
But now, I don't do any more to the carnival, it's always the same thing.
