Excision

What do you know about genital mutulation done on girls mostly in Africa against their will? Do you think it takes away women's freedom ?

  1. I know at the momet is not practiced in certain african countries or maybe clandestinely in rural areas. More of the time the mutilayions are practiced against their volontary and in some african culture these mutilations are considered like a protection, a social norm or a protection for the wedding. I think it takes women's freedom away because they are forced to do and their opinions or ressentiments are not taken in account.

  2. Forced genital mutilation is a taboo subject and very little discussed. I didn't know it existed until I gave a presentation on it at school. I think it's a real problem that we don't talk about enough. In some countries it is a "tradition" that all women have to go through, whether they want it or not. I find it horrible to make women suffer against their will in the name of a so-called tradition. This practice takes freedom from women, they do not decide what to do with their body and suffer the consequences of this practice all their lives.
