You may be aware of the dangerous chinese virus which caused several chinese towns shut-down and the death of more than 250 people. Do you think that this virus is more life-threatening than others? And what do you think about other people’s reactions when they see chinese people ?
Hello, I think we all heard about this dangerous Chinese virus. Indeed, it has caused more than 250 death and 9776 persons are contaminated. French people who we’re just visiting China, were brought back in France and have been quarantined. I think it scares a lot of people. I don’t know if it’s more life-threatening than others but we should all be careful and aware of the dangers. Some people think that all Chinese people are contaminated from the coronavirus, I saw reactions of people who saw Asian people on the bus and even in stores. The coronavirus is not an excuse to be raciste, an hashtag as been viral on social medias #JeNeSuisPasUnVirus and denounce the behavior of stupid people.

ReplyDeleteFrom official sources the coronavirus would be less dangerous than "Ebola" or "The plague", but still the coronavirus would not be without danger because there is a mortality rate of 2.36%.
This virus has caused 811 deaths in China and 5 people are affected in France and has been in a quarantine to prevent contamination.
The virus scares people because they are afraid of being contaminated but I think that the reaction of the people is sometimes exaggerated and it's idiot to be racist to Asian people.
But we have to be preventative for coronavirus...

ReplyDeleteI think everyone has heard of this virus, because of these media which often dramatize things. Coronavirus caused the death of 250 people, but this does not mean that this virus is very dangerous
but, you should know that the flu kills between 10,000 and 15,000 people a year, and only in France ! But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t pay attention on the contrary you should take precautions, because this virus could develop.
Which makes me sad, people allow themselves to become racist and to say that all Chinese people are infected with this virus I find it unacceptable.

When we hear all of this, we are of course afraid. But we are not sure if all of this is exaggerated or necessary to prevent the coronavirus from spreading further worldwide.
As for me, I am of course afraid of this virus but not more than any other. We must be careful to avoid potential health problems, of course, but we must not be afraid of the Chinese or, even worse, of all the Asian people.

ReplyDeleteIndeed, I have heard the news about this terrible virus. It is very unfortunate that 250 people have died from it. The only things that we can do, as citizens, are to stay calm and to be careful. I don't think that the Coronavirus is more life-threatening than others, because most of the persons who have died from it suffered from health problems (people who suffer from immunodeficiencies as well as old and very young people have a higher probability of dying from the virus than a healthy adult).
Concerning the discrimination against Chinese people, I think that it is unjustified and doesn't make much sense, because not all people that have Chinese traits live in China or are Chinese. Most of them live in France and don't ever go to China.

Today the corona virus worries a lot of people and causes a lot of rumors, it's hard to tell the real from the fake. Coronavirus had a mortality rate of 2%, which is quite low. Indeed, coronavirus can be cured. However, the virus is easily transmissible which makes it more contagious than the flu. That’s why a new a new form of racism has emerged against the Chinese; people make inappropriate remarks about the Chinese. A new hashtag had appeared in France: #jenesuispasvirus.

ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, the coronavirus is dangerous because it is new and we don't know much about it unlike other viruses such as the flu or others. Secondly, this Chinese virus is quite serious because there is no cure yet and so we see people dying little by little and we know that we can't do anything about it because it is totally unknown to us.
And finally, coronavirus is not the most dangerous of viruses, it's just the fact that everyone is talking about it and the media exaggerates what they say, and that worries the population.
On the other hand, I think that if people act in this way with Chinese people, it is because the virus comes from their country, and when they see a Chinese person, they will cover their nose and mouth because they do not know whether the person has been in China recently or not and therefore whether he or she may have breathed the air of a sick person. Then, the population insults, belittles the Chinese people because they are afraid, so they get angry with the Chinese and so according to them everything is the fault of the Chinese.
So they want to "punish" them.
In conclusion, I think that everything I have just said is not a valid apology, because to act in this way is to behave in a racist manner and that is unacceptable.
Chinese people even get beaten up, scratched and all sorts of other horrible things, and that's really nonsense, because this kind of behaviour should be punished.
First, I think that this topic is really interesting because everyone has a different opinion about this virus.

In addition, the symptoms of the virus are similar to those of the flu : a common disease.
It is therefore difficult to differentiate the flu and coronavirus, and it makes the population even more vigilant.
But because of this virus from China, there are a lot of racist acts against these Asian people and I think it’s really unfair and mean.
Many people think that every person with an Asian physique, is infected by this virus, and therefore, racism towards Asians is developing.
Today, 80,000 people are affected by this virus and more than 2,000 people have died from it.
Finally, I think we have to take precautions, but we shouldn’t be stressed by the virus.

I can understand that a lot of people are scared but there are a lot of others virus that we don't talk about even if they are worse. And most of the people who died of the Coronnavirus had health problems.
I think it is good that people are taking measures like stop kissing, avoid contact for everyone's safety.
Also I heard that a lot of discrimination is made against the Asian people and I think this is horrible and unjustified because people have an inappropriate behavior and take the coronavirus as an excuse to be mean.
I hope the situation will get better and asian racism will stop

ReplyDeleteThe coronavirus has now infected several countries, it has spread from China to France and Italy and many other countries. Sadly the virus has caused over 4000 deaths, so I think that we can safely affirm that this virus is extremely dangerous and even extremely deadly. I have heard that it is mostly small kids and older people who are more susceptible to catch the coronavirus and that the teenagers have an immunity system which resists better to the virus. Furthermore several countries like Spain and Italy have taken precautions regarding the virus by closing schools and advising the population to stay at home.
Moreover some people have taken this virus too far by staying away from all Asian looking people and being rude to them. Indeed I saw on Instagram that some Chinese men had been beaten up just because they were Chinese, people don't understand that it isn't their fault and that one can't generalise and put everyone in the same pot.

There are no remedies for this virus yet.
To come back to the fact of racism towards the Chinese, I think that it has always been present. The Chinese have unfortunately always been neglected and this long before the virus.

ReplyDeleteThis virus is like an influenza. It can be very dangerous for the old people or frail people. If this virus worries many people it is merely because it is a new virus and it spread speedy. However some people don’t very afraid and go on to going out every day, that’s why some places drones fly to aware people to come back home. I think if people don’t respect rules, this virus spread more easily but I don’t think it is more deadly than the others, I think it is a simply disease who will disappear when a vacccine will find. Only, I afraid for frail and old people because they are more touched than the others even it is same consequences than an influenza. Moreover, this virus causes homophobia when they see them. People can think all Chinese are touched whereas now there are as many French than Chinese touched by this virus.

ReplyDeleteSince I am responding to this subject really late, the situation has evolved a lot. Now, we know that this virus is really deadly, and can be transmitted really easily . Those characteristics have pushed the government of many country such as France and Italy to proclaim many measures like China did. At the beginning I thought that it was a non threatening virus for most people and that the flue was more threatening.But considering that there has been near 800 death in one day in Italy, we can obviously say that it is really dangerous.
About the waves of racism that has strike Asian population, I believe it is non-sense even more now that the virus is everywhere on the planet. It is not because the epidemic started in China that it is a “ Chinese virus” and that people should be racist towards Asian people.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, my parents are both nurses and they are telling to my sisters and I that it’s just like the flu and I believe it. I think people are scared because it affects a lot of people very quickly. The media has a big influence on it. President Macron said on TV that we were on war. Medias want people to be scared.
Second of all, I’m against all kind of racism and the way people act around chinese people are not okay. They are humans and they are not all infected.
I think right now it’s better that we stay home and we listen to the instructions so we can go out and live normaly again.

The chinese virus spreads more and more in every country and it scares people.
But like everyone should know, we have to be calm and stay at home.
What I trully miss is my friends. Since my family is at home with me I am not really worried about them. But for my friends, I do. I hope I will see them later.
When I will be able to go out again, I will of course go to school but for sure, I will walk in the city and have a good time outside. Maybe having a dinner in a restaurant and enjoy Spring days.
I think that the quarantine is a very good idea from the President.
I believe that it will be very helpful because no one will be infected anymore and we will be able to get back on track like we did before without fear and sadness.
I hope you have all a great time to let your inspiration be created.
People who are affraid of chinese people are just dumb. They have to calm down because everyone can be affected.

This virus is very dangerous. According to me, this virus is more dangerous than the "grippe" (a simple virus) but i think "ebola" was a virus more deadly and will remain so. I say that because this virus only attacks vulnerable people (until the person dies). Of course, this virus also attacks no-vulnerable people but no until the person dies.

I think this virus is more life-threatening than others because it seems to spread quickly and because it affects sensitive organs in our bodies. On top of that, it remains present for a long time in the air or on different materials. When other people will see Chinese people I think they will be suspicious by fear of being contaminated even if it is surely not the case.
