Growing up

Since it is our final year as secondary school students, can you write about the changes you have noticed between your first year and now? (in terms of state of mind, expectation... tell about your fears, your vision of the adult world...).

  1. Hello,
between our first year and now, I noticed a few changes: first of all, I feel a bit more mature than in the first year, I see things differently. I also took into account that it's my last year in high school, the exam of baccalaureate is coming pretty fast and I have to prepare it in the best way possible. Moreover, in one year, I'm going to leave the high school to go to university, the " adult world ". It means that I'll have more responsibility to compare to now. I'm not very scared of that, it's just that when something different occurs, you are a bit stressed and you don't know if you are going to be able to handle it or not.

  2. Hello !
I think since my first year in highschool, I have become somewhat more mature than I was before : I have learnt to organize myself and work without help from anyone. I also think that I've become more self-confident than I was, as I manage to speak in front of a whole class without much difficulty, whereas it seemed almost impossible to me only a few years ago. I have also become more confident in my future, because I know what I want to study next year and which job I want to have later, so I don't feel lost anymore.
But of course, this is only the very beginning of adult life for me, and I wholly realize that I still have a lot to learn, and I'm looking forward to discovering more things !

  3. Hello everyone,

In my opinion, I haven't changed since my first year in highschool. I believe it is because I don't see myself from an outside point of view. I guess that I am maybe more mature on some points and that my point of view has changed a lot. One thing that hasn't changed is the fact that I am a little bit afraid of the future and adulthood. I don't really know what I want to do later and adulthood is for me as appealing as it is scary. You have a lot of responsibilities, and I am not sure to be strong/mature enough to handle all of them by myself. For now I am trying to focus on the bac and forget all of that, even if that is surely not the right thing to do.

  4. Hi everyone !
First of all, I can't believe I'm already in TS, time is flying that’s incredible. At the beginning of my first year (at Calmette) I was afraid because some of my friends told me that teachers were really strict and unkind and it would be harder than middle school. I soon realized that it was not true. Almost all the teachers were well intentioned and now I’m used to hard work.
Moreover I was a child two years ago, I was quite immature now I can say that I'm more mature. Besides I think that my vision of the adult world evolved. I understood few months ago that you needed to work harder and harder to get the perfect job.
To conclude with even if things changed, I'm still the stressed and sporty girl that I was 2 years ago.
    Goodbye!

  5. Hi!
Indeed it's our final year, time flies! Even though I have to admit that I'm looking forward to starting my studies after high school.
I've already thought of that question, and actually I've noticed that a lot has changed since the first year.
To begin with, I am more mature and open-minded than I was two years ago, and I can say that it is thanks to the very diverse encounters, both positive and negative, that I have made, which have taught me a lot on very different levels.
Moreover, I would like to add that academically, I was not at all organized or passionate about anything. But I was lucky enough to have a few teachers who really aroused my curiosity, so I took it upon myself to work more regularly and learn about a wide variety of subjects,
whether it was reading a classic book or a fashion article. This kind of things has allowed me to have a better experience at the beginning of this school year and get out of "the school, home and bed routine", simply because I have more time for hobbies than I used to. It is also how I still try to develop my culture and personality, take a stand in debates, and finally have a healthier lifestyle and state of mind.
What I mean, is that I still have weaknesses and some existencial crisis but I try to learn and grow throughout the time.

  6. Hello !
First of all, on a factual aspect, there are indeed many changes between the first year in high school and the last one. When entering high school, we just recently graduated four long years in middle school, so we may have had the same mindset yet we were already expected to work very hard for a big number of classes. Moreover, for my generation (the current seniors), we had a choice to make at the end of the year that would shape our future. And now, after two very short years, we are at the gates of adulthood.
Despite that, I’m happy to say that I had a very pleasant experience in high school, for now. I was quite stressed during my first year because I wanted to pursue in the scientific field, which I still have an interest in, but I decided to pick what truly made me shine and what I enjoyed the most, and I still don’t regret it, as I’m writing. I was (and still am) lucky to have many great teachers who made me enjoy their class or involved themselves for their students in different ways. As I’m in the literary course, I have classes who truly suit me and in which I can improve or excel.
In addition, on a personal aspect, I spent an incredible time with my friends with many laughs and fond memories, and it’s not over yet ! I think I’ve grown quite a bit in two years and it’s mostly thanks to them and their feedback.
Of course there are other changes because, as seniors, we now always have the priority at the canteen !

… Well, not really.. if at all... It’s the law of the fastest at lunchtime.
Anyways, my experience in high school mostly confirmed what my interests were and in which career I can blossom. As it is my last year, I think it is the right time to tell (if I didn’t already), that I want to teach foreign languages ! English and/or German, I’m not sure yet but I’m confident about entering the ‘’adult world’’.

    Thanks for reading

  7. Good everyone,
Between this year and my first year, I can notice several changes. First of all, my mindset has changed since my first year because I had a lot of fun and I was less in a work perspective compared to now, I think I grew up. This year is the most important for our future because there is on the one hand the baccalaureate to succeed and on the other hand we will have to orient ourselves for our future profession. For now, I do not know what to do next year and it starts to stress me a little bit. Finally, I can say that I look forward to going to a new school next year to grow and mature.

  8. Good evening / Morning i still don't know how to greet when i begin to write a comment. Let's go back to the main topic.

Indeed, i noticed, on my own, that the woman i am now is very different than the girl i was last year. First of all, besides strating to have more self-confidence, i also started to be more talkative and outgoing rather than the shy and introvert girl, thanks to my summer time where i have met awesome new open-minded friends.

Further more, my sister this year got pregnant and im going to be an aunt, and i can say im really excited to since im going to be a new family figure for someone, not as a child but as an adult.

I would end my comment by saying that a year is nothing to me, because in one year you can change everything, and also be a better person everyday, since i will always know my family will be here to protect me and could forgive my mistakes.

    Thanks for reading !

  9. Hello,
Even if this year is not my last one in secondary school, I noticed several changes throughout my school years. To begin, people change a lot, they are more mature but also more critical. When I was young, like ten years old, make friends was easier because we were too young to realize some things, so we talk with everyone. As far as I’m concerned, I change every year, for example I’m not the same than one year ago. So, I don’t have the same relationship with many peoples. My opinion on a lot of things has also change a lot through the years. But generally, I didn’t meet problems during my school years, middle school was a bit difficult because at this moment I was looking for who I really am, but it allows to me to evolve. I’m a bit afraid of the adult life because it means a lot of responsibilities, but I’m eager to be independent and take my own decisions. So, I don’t know what to think about it.

  10. Hello,
Between our first year and now, I noticed a few changes :
To begin, I am more mature and I have more self-confidence. The ES sector allowed me to have an opinion on all topics. I fell that I grew up. I also realized the importance of this last year for my future. When I arrived in high school, I only thought of having fun, now I have realized the work to be done to succeed.

  11. Hello,
Speaking for myself, since my first year and now, I have noticed many changes. Even if I still have one year left, this year I have realized how working hard is important because this year I have a French exam, and next year I will have the final exams in all my subjects. At first I thought high school was very difficult and that I wouldn’t have the level expected but, I became more confident and my state of mind changed this year. This year, I have learn to be more organized in my work, and to be more interested in school and many subjects.
I think I have changed my point of view about lots of things… Maybe next year I would become more open-minded and mature
About the adult world, I’m a little bit afraid, but I think I still have time to gain maturity and to become more and more responsible
