Yes, they are different because there are other types of styles of music, clothing, food, pop stars. they do not also know the cellphones and the social networks which are used today by all the young people
Sara Chamakhi Yes teens today are different from teens in 1982 because the society evolved. The artists, the fashion, the stars changed. The mentality and the technology changed too.
Yes, today’s teenagers are different from 1982 teenagers because the generation is not the same, it has evolved. The primary factors would be related to technology, people´s mentality…
Adolescence is the most challenging part of most people's lives as it is the period between childhood and adulthood in which there is a huge development of personality. So, if we talk about a teen in 1982 or a teen from these days, they'll have obviously different taste of music and will like different style of clothes but they'll both see major and important changes in their lives at this point. But, I think teens today have to face a lot more difficulties and distractions than the ones from the late 20th century. Today's society is much more demanding in terms of studies, appearances which makes the competition between these young adults very tough and stressful. Plus, teens nowadays have access to all social media platforms and internet which exposes them to current affairs and gives them the opportunity to express themselves online. But, it can also have a negative impact on them such as sleep deprivation, less in-person interactions, fake friends... Finally, in today's world, teenagers are always updated but they may have less social skills as they spend 5-6 hours a day on their phones. Whereas, back then, teens were a lot more simple and had less problems to deal with.
Lily Peyre Today’s teenagers are pretty different from teens in the 1980s, because both generations have different tastes, in fashion, in culture, in music and in other areas.. Technology has obviously evolved: today’s teens are hunched over a screen on social medias and online games. Whereas teens back then didn’t have these kind of advanced internet usages.
Yes, I think teens nowadays are different from teens in 1982, mainly because of social media and technologies in general. Teens today don't interact as much with each other as they did back in the 80s. They spend more time preoccupied with the way their life looks on social media and the way they look then enjoying the small things in life. Therefore, our generation is constantly trying to impress others and judging everyone so there is less authenticity I think that there was at the time.
I think teenagers have changed because in 1982 teen don’t had phone and social network doesn’t exist. The social link were more present than today, today social link still exist but with the social network teen speak together on this applications and less than the real life. But of course teen still speak together in the real life but maybe less than in 1982
Maxence Benguettat Yes teens are différent because, they have not the same clothes, they don't listen the same music. In 1982 thé social network didn't exist.
Teens are different today, because the society evolved. Teens of today don't wear the same clothes, they have different taste in music, in culture, in movies... Also teens of today use social medias.
i think yes because teens today have changed trough the time, now they have different taste in music, in type of movies, in how they talk and how they look.
Difference between 1982 teens and from these days is getting more and more place in the debate nowadays. Indeed, there is a gap in terms of education because of technologic constant evolution. The simple fact that teens of nowadays grew up with video games, phones, is a completely game changing. If we compare these two generations, we can see that 82’ teens used their imagination to play, to develop themselves, to make friends but this is getting easily today with social media and video games as we said. The issue with these evolution is that it doesn’t kept the child in his own imagination and is distancing themselves from the reality of the real life. How many problems during the past 10 years emerged because of social media ? I don’t have a clue but one thing is clear, more than the year 1982. Moreover, the education of the parents is very important, initiate rules like limits of screen time, age, phone at the table or not…
Agostini Zoe Yes of course, because today's teens love different things than 1982 teens: (different singers, different movies, different sport stars, different clothes,..);the technology also advanced (cell phone, social media, internet,...) and finally the mentality evolved (the generation Z are more open than the previous generation).
Difference between 1982 teens and today, in 1982 teens didn’t have social network and superficiality that there is today. Today teens live with social network and the appearance of ourselves. In 1982 teens had more social ties and this socials ties are important for them. But today teens although socials lies are important for them, they are more on social network than ever. Also in the education teens of today are less educated than in 1982, in 1982 teens had more good manners with people.
I think are different because are in generation Z with social media, phone….. for exemple my clothes are different of my mother in 1982. the culture, the movies, the mentality evoveld with the society
Yes, today's teenagers are different from teenagers in 1982 because the culture change mentality has changed the fashion change. We are from Generation Z, today's adolescents are addicted to social networks and no communicate with each other unlike the adolescents of the time who forge many more social links. I think yes because teenagers of today don’t have the same activities because today we have mobiles, social medias and internet in general. Also, mentalities have changed because now we don’t live the same way we did in the 80s because the society has changed
I do think that teens today are different from teens of the 80’s. On the other hand, I wouldn’t say that there aren’t similarities in the lifestyle and the culture. As for today, some teens like to get inspired by fashion from the 80’s. Some series nowadays also like to promote this vintage aesthetic and the music that comes with it. Thus, a lot of teens today can be found listening to old bands such as Queen, AC/DC and U2. Some teens even take these artists as their role models. However teens from that time aren’t near the same as today because we have advanced technology and far more access to knowledge and culture. For instance, thanks to high technology nowadays, teens are more aware of what’s going on in the world and dare to express their opinions and therefore they are more confident and mature. Typically, Greta Thunberg, this young eighteen year old Swedish girl when she first protested to the Swedish parliament about the climate change, she was only fifteen. Whereas in the 80’s, teens were a little childish we may say and not as confident as the teens today. In a nutshell, today’s teens and teens from then are rather different but not quite the opposite as they can find common grounds to be inspired and create a new style which is unique today but this is just limited in the fashion sense and music taste. -Zoé Tavé
Teens nowadays are different because of how society evolved as whole. To be more precise technology is part of our daily life but it was not the case before I think that's where we can find the main difference between the two generations.
Totally ! Teenagers in 1982 had different minds, different concerns, the condition and rules of the country were different, wich changes behaviour. Now, we also have more innovations like technology wich is constantly present in our lives. The last generations are really different for that I guess. But after all, they were teenagers and therefore humans like us with the same needs and similar wants.
I would like to add a point to my previous comment. Introduction : Of course there are a lot of differences between teens today and teens in 1982. Development: In 1982, teens had the mentality was very strange that today. Because the fashion, the music, the education at home or at school. For example at school in 1982, if there was a problem with the teacher it was inevitably the student who was punished. But now the parents want to understand the situation and maybe will be very agressive with the teacher. In 1982, teens were very well educated, they were not arrogant or contemptuous but today, the opposite is true. Conclusion: Of course there are a lot of differences between teens in 1982 and teens today. But the differences the most important is the mentality who have change.
