  1. This video presents a teaching teacher in America who corrects the control of one of his students and explains that 2 + 2 is equal to 4 and not 22, except that the little boy turns away and from there the teachers, the parents of students, the students, the media... fall on her to admit that several answers are possible and that she must therefore apologize for her "mistake".
However, this teacher, her name is Mrs. Wells, does not lose hope and tries to make everyone understand that her goal is to help students learn from their mistakes because, for her, it is the goal of teaching, but no onedoes not seem to want to understand and listen to it.
At the end of the video, the teacher responds to the cameras and manages to prove from her answer that everyone's reasoning is completely ilogic.
I really agree with the point of view of this teacher and I find this video great because it allows us all to understand the real purpose of teaching.

At the beginning of this video we see Mrs. Wells, a teacher in a school in America, confronting one of her students who doesn’t understand his maths mark. She explains his mistakes but the boy doesn't want to believe her when she tells him that, according to the rules of mathematics, 2+2=4 and not 22. The next day his parents came to see her and showed their disagreement with her way of marking, as there is no one right answer, then the principal, inspectors and the media got involved, all going against Mrs. Wells. This teacher ends up getting expelled because she can't tell a student that he is wrong because there are apparently several answers, they need to be supported in their approach.
I completely agree with this teacher. There are laws and rules in most subjects that we learn in school for a reason. Correcting a student and telling him that he is wrong is not the same as punishing him, rather, it will help him to progress and not make the same mistakes again.

  3. In this video, we can see a math teacher; Mrs. Wells explaining mistakes to a student named Danny. She explains to him that 2+2=4, not 22. Danny is not satisfied with his grade and does not want to understand his mistakes. Mrs Wells was later overwhelmed by the anger of Danny's parents, other parents, the media... Mrs. Wells is suspended from duty and her story is on TV. She is fighting to make everyone understand that they are wrong and that she is right from the beginning.
The next day, Mrs. Wells is invited by the principal, to return to school to fix the situation. There are journalists and cameras that are there for her and when the principal says that 2000+2000=4000, she points out that it is false and that it is 22000.
She was able to show everyone the illogicality of their reasoning.
I agree with Mrs Wells' opinion, because her point of view is fair and logical contrary to the logic of others. I think this video is good for everyone in order to show the true logic of teaching.

  4. This video shows us a teacher correcting her student's fault. Indeed his student put in his test that 2 + 2 = 22 instead of 4. Since this event, this teacher has been accused both by the parents of the students and by the teachers of an unjust woman who only proves herself right. This small affair took on a very large scale because the media also spoke about it. This video is frustrating because we can see that the teacher is wrongly accused and that she corrected her student with kindness, for the sake of his development. Indeed we need open-mindedness in this world but only for the necessary subjects. We must not change the rules concerning the subjects we learn in class, because it is thanks to them that we manage to find a job.

  5. This video is a short film directed by David Maddox in 2017. A mathematics teacher: Mrs Wells helps a pupil named Danny who has troubles with addition but the pupil doesn’t want to recognize that 2 + 2 = 4, in fact he is convinced that 2 + 2 is equal to 22. Then, the parents of Danny come to complain, they assert their child is a “free thinker” so they believe that his answer can’t be wrong. Next days, the principal and the superintend ask the teacher to apologize for her answer and to accept that there can be several answers in a mathematical operation. Medias, students and parents criticize her methods and consequently she is suspended from her job. Finally, Mrs Well reaches to prove that this way of thinking is illogical when the principal talks about her income for previous months saying: “that’s 2000$ for your last pay period and 2000$ for this one so that’s 4000$” and she answers back that he is wrong because 2000 + 2000 = 22 000$ according to this reasoning.
I share Mrs Wells’ point of view, because as she said in the beginning of the video, « we learn from mistakes, everybody makes mistakes” and we have to recognize it if we want to progress. It’s a real problem in our society because many people criticize facts, even when it’s illogical, without having knowledges on the subject.

To conclude, this video shows that we need to learn from these mistakes and not believe everything we see or hear.

This short film made in 2017, turns the school academy into an absurd community and it is quite a critique on today's society. In the beginning, a pupil runs to his math teacher not understanding why he got such a bad grade so Mrs. Wells explains to him some of his errors like the first one: 2+2 doesn't equal 22 but 4. The obstinate child doesn't care about his teacher's words, because he is certain that he is right so instead of correcting himself he leaves the classroom while being rude and violent. But this doesn't stop here. The parents get involved and instead of them being mature and intelligent adults, they don't want to share the same opinion as Mrs. Wells. They are completely ignoring math rules and are practically yelling at her that 2+2 is in fact 22 if their child says so because he is a "free thinker". After all this, the principal comes to see her and is basically telling her to ignore real math and its proprieties to please the children and eventually the parents. All of this is so absurd because instead of being on the teacher's side and correcting people's errors, the principal who is supposedly clever, is being ignorant. Then, this problematic story becomes so popular that parents are rioting in front of the school saying "Students count! Teachers divide!" which is so exaggerated. Right after, Mrs. Wells, the only person that is right from the very beginning, gets suspended but not only because of the principal but because the mayor and the superintendent are also siding with the parents and are ignoring all academical principles. The math teacher is so "scandalous", that even the media is talking about her and treating her very poorly. Finally, when the school decides to fire her, Mrs. Wells is summoned to the school where the media and the principal are waiting for her arrival. Once she is there the principal is telling what is happening and decides to give her her last paychecks. The principal is telling her that he was supposed to give her two paychecks containing 2000 dollars each, so he decides to give her a 4000 dollar paycheck. Mrs. Wells who catches on quickly is far from daft so she asks for a 22 000 dollar paycheck because she is just applying everyone else's comments and critiques that they imposed on her form the start. This scene somewhat relates to the beginning and it is quite amusing because the world can't say anything due to their pride and foolishness.

  8. Hello,
At the start of this video, we saw Ms. Wells, a teacher in the United States, confronting one of her students who did not understand her math grades. She explained her mistake, but when she told the boy it was 2 + 2 = 4 instead of 22 according to the math rules, the boy didn't want to believe her. The next day her parents came to visit her and disagreed with her, and since there was no one correct answer, the principal, inspectors and the media all stepped in and opposed Ms Wells. The teacher was finally fired because she could not tell the students that he was wrong, because there were obviously several answers and they had to be supported in their process.
I totally agree with this professor. Most of the subjects we study in school have laws and rules, and there is a reason for that.
Correcting a student and telling them they are wrong is not just like punishing them, help them improve and stop making the same mistakes.

Mrs.Wells, the teacher does not want to let go of the case, she makes everyone understand that she is only doing her job and that she is there to help her students but no one listens to her.
In the end, Mrs.Wells succeds in making it clear to the media that their reasonning is not logical.
I really like the video because it's funny and it allows you to understand the teacher's job.
