Quarantine

Hey, I hope you're fine and safe!
I know that it's quite difficult to stay home during a pretty long period but I think that we can do this to save the planet. What are the things or activities you miss the most during the containment ? What will you do first when you'll be able to go out ? And what do you think about the President's decisions concerning the coronavirus ?

Please note: Containment = pandemic (the action of keeping something harmful under control) but you are "isolated" = isolation.

  1. Hi !
During the containment, the most awful thing is to not see my friends anymore and i cannot go downtown with them anymore. I feel kinda stuck, it's different than holiday indeed, u feel like u have no choice and i dont like it. Also, I miss school in a way, having digital classes is very different and kinda depressing at a point, so i would love to get back into a classroom, see people, share my knowledge in some school subjects or learn from others.

When i will be able to go out i'll go to the beach with all of my friends, because i miss them a lot, i want to party with them like i did all summer long, i feel like we are wasting time, we need to live our life and as teenagers in this containment, it is a very complicated situation. Finally, our President decision was right, and also it was a good choice to increase the penalties if you were going out without permission because a lot of person, who i will qualified as naive would go out if there were no penalty.

Thanks for reading and take care of your loved ones !

  2. Hi, the latest update is that we will have to stay home until April, so it’s quite long but it’s for our good. I have the chance to have a garden, so to keep be busy I play with my dog, I help my mother and my sister with gardening so quarantine doesn’t really bother me because I have lot of activities to do… (but maybe in two weeks I will feel stuck at my place)
I feel like I’m on Holliday but I’m not so it’s a bit weird, what I miss the most is being around my friends. I don’t miss school but having to work, write your lessons, having digital classes at your house is a little bit strange. I think that the President’s choice is right, that we all have to stay home to safe lives. I also think that is right to punish and fine someone who doesn’t respect that. Also, in nice there is a curfew and even if it’s a bit scary it’s for our best so in my opinion it’s a good decision.
When we will finally be allowed to go out and quarantine will be over, I will see my friends and go shopping, eat, fast-food, go to the cinema… I can’t wait!

    Hello,
First of all, for me it is not difficult because I like to stay at home and I am not a person who goes out often.
And it's to protect the planet and us, so we have to do it.

I think the things that I miss a lot is going out with my friends, and having lunch with them to share a moment together.
Also outings with my family on Sunday and discovering new places.

Then, when I can go out, I would like to go see my grandparents because I usually see them at least once a week and I miss them.
I think they feel alone so it is important for me and for them that I go see them.

Finally, I think that if the President took
this decision is that the situation is really serious because France has lost a lot of money and many people are dying so he had no choice. But he didn't make a big decision because a lot of people keep going out and it's unfair to those who stay at home, so he should say that people can go out just for work or shopping, and for them people who do not take this decision seriously the president should impose an expensive and more severe fine.

      I made some mistakes :
      - and I don't go out often
      - ourselves
      - a lot ; are
      - to go and see
      - But he has made a strict decision
      - people can go out
      - to shop and to work

  4. Hi,
First, I hope that everyone feels well. During the containment I miss my fiends obvioulsy, we can't hang out and take coffes anymore. I miss the fact that I can't go out as I want or go to the gym. I think that the first thing I'll do once we will be able to go out is to train hard at the gym and party in a club.
Moreover I think that the President's decisions are good because the only way to don't catch the virus is to avoid every contact with other people.
    See you soon!

  6. Hello,
First of all, I think that even if staying at home is difficult , we are not the ones who have to fight the virus, like doctors, nurses and sick people, and I think we should be grateful for that.
Then , I think that the activities that I miss the most are spending time with my friends, airing my mind when I need to, just having a good time breathing in the fresh air. I also miss shopping because I think it’s relaxing sometimes.
I think that the first thing I would do would be to see my friends, because I miss them very much.
Even if I think that it’s a complicated period, I think the President’s decisions are justified. I think the virus is very dangerous, and if the government had not taken measures like this, people would have continued to go out.
Finally, I really hope that everyone will respect the rules and stay at home, that the virus will disappear and that this period will soon end so that we can have our normal life as soon as possible.

  7. Hello,
First of all, for me it is very difficult because I don't stay at home often, I am a usually active person, I like to go out and have fun.
But I respect the president's decision because it's for everyone's good, so we have to do it.
Then I think what I miss most is seeing my friends and my grandmother.
When I can go out, I would like to go see my friends because I miss them a lot, I will also go shopping.
Finally, I find that the decision taken by the President is not so terrible because even at the announcement of the fine that will be given to those who do not respect the rules, there are always selfish people who continue to go out under the pretext that they can't take it anymore.
So for me the fine should be much more severe so maybe try to stop people.

  8. Hi!
First of all for me stay in home is not difficult because I'm often in home, and I don't like to go out.
But, I miss my friends and teachers in school.
Then, I think we have to be careful because this virus killed several people since its spread, so we have to fight virus and staying at home, to prevent its spread and go out only for the important thing, like buy the necessities.
I think the president Emmanuel macron are right, because in this period we must be United and be patient.
So take care of yourself , and stay at home.
    Bye!

  9. Hi,

In fact, it's not difficult for me to stay at home during a long period, it's like holidays but with some conditions. During the containment, the most things that I miss is to make the trip at school everyday with my best friends and finish the day with walking on the sea with the beautiful sunset every Friday. It makes me fairly sad to not see my friends and to not clear my heard. I can say that I miss high school !

The first thing I will do when I'll able to go out in to do shopping and eat at the restaurant with my lovely mom. And about the President's decision, I think that he's doing right,. He is right to protect us even if it's difficult for some people. As he said last week, "save lifes, stay at home!" We all dreamt about stay at home because we were tired, so we can take this like an opportunity to work at home !

Take care of you all, it's very important.

  11. Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and staying safe (you too Miss Ricketts) during these difficult times.
I'd like to start by saying that I think the President has been very thorough in trying to contain the spread of the corona virus. Even though this confinement is very difficult on all of us, it is absolutely necessary to keep us all safe!
I think that the hardest part for all of us is being separated from the people we love and not being able to hold and comfort them in these trying times. Personally, I'm celebrating my one year anniversary with my boyfriend this week and not being able to see him breaks my heart!
I'm finding homeschooling very hard as I usually need face to face conversations with my teachers in order to fully comprehend lessons and exercise corrections. I hope you are handling it better than I am.
When the containment is finally over, I will want to see my friends and go to the beach for a nice swim in the fresh air.
Finally, I want to thank all the nurses, doctors, retail workers and sanitary workers for all the work they are doing during this pandemic, putting their lives in peril so that we don't have to. I also want to thank all the teachers how are staying in touch and doing their best to keep educating us.
    Thank you for reading

  12. Hi !
As you I hope everybody is fine. To come back to your questions, I really miss my family and bestfriends.
Especially my grandparents because I used to see them four times a week, and I’m scared for them
because I know they are not as strong as they were 10 years ago.
Moreover my birthday is in one month so, if the containment is finished before my birthday I will
organize an immense party. I will rent a house and invite all my friends. But the first thing that I will do is
to show up at my grandparents house.
Besides I think the president took the right decision a bit late, it’s complicated to judge him and his
actions because I don’t know what I will do if I were him. Therefore I trully believe is doing is best.
To conclude with, working at home without teachers is really complicated so I’m afraid of the exams (at
    the end of the year).
    Goodbye !

During this quarantine the most awful thing is not to be able to go out and see people that I love (my friends and the rest of my family). I miss going out to the restaurant, to the gym… I even miss going to school. I hate homeschool because I find it really hard to study at home and to understand new lessons especially in biology, chemestry and Math.
When we will able to go out again, I think I will see my friends and I will just live normally again. I don’t have a plan of what I’m going to do when all of this will be over.
Finally, I think that he is just trying to protect everyone and he doesn’t want the virus to be spread. I think it’s a very hard situation for everyone and for the safety of everyone please stay inside.

  14. Hello!
First of all, I hope you're okay and that's your'e safe.
I find this situation difficult from a school point of view because working at home is complicated and it is also difficult to understand the lessons.
but the confinement doesn't upset me because I don't go out a lot in general but it doesn't feel like a holiday, I'm very bored but I know it's important for me to stay confined at home, I miss my friends a lot and I think the first thing I would do is to go out with my friends and go shopping.
I think the president's decisions are right because it reduces the risk of contagion and saves our planet from this virus but there are some people who do not take confinement seriously so I think the best thing to do is to be more strict on the almonds so that everyone understands that it is necessary to stay at home.

  15. Since two weeks that we are in quarantine it seems to me as if the time stopped. We have to stay at home for an indeterminate time. Days can be very long and it’s sometimes difficult not to go outside, enjoying the sun and the fresh air. During the week some French ministers told the population to stay home to be safe. Every day, at 8 PM we all go on our balcony to applause the work that is done from the nurses and hospital staff. This moment seems to me very weird indeed it reminds me of dystopic movies in which the whole population has to fight against virus or danger outside. To my mind, it’s quite scary to see that everyone gets stuck at home. Actually, the virus spreads all around the world and caused numerous deaths. It started in China but it has become a world-wide problem. Many masks and medical stuff feel because the countries didn’t take precautions to protect the persons who still work. Moreover, many pictures show the sky before and during the quarantine, the difference is surprising indeed greenhouse gas and pollution have rapidly decreased. In my opinion, that is a real good news that the environmental situation gets better and I hope it will continue in this way. Furthermore, at home, I work a lot, I read and watch series. I guess that when we will be able to go out the first thing I’ll do is having a walk downtown. I miss going out with friends to take a break and refresh my ideas. Keep smiling and hope.

  16. When he was about to announce that we would be put in quarantine, I thought it would be difficult for me but finally I managed to keep myself busy. I do things I'm not used to doing, like reading, playing sports, or cooking. However, I miss seeing my friends, going for drinks, going out, shopping. I think what I miss the most is my friends even though we talk a lot on the phone or through social networking I miss seeing them in real life. I've asked myself many times what I'm going to do when the quarantine is over but honestly, I don't know yet, there are too many things I'd like to do. Concerning President's decisions, I think he did the right thing, quarantining us was the best thing to do, but it's not enough... A lot of people still go out and don't take the corona virus seriously. I find this behavior irresponsible and selfish because it delays the day when we can go out again. I think the president should take tougher measures to deter people from getting out, like increasing fines or mobilizing more police.

  17. Hello,
To begin with, I hope everyone is staying safe at home and following the official guidelines during the containment as that will end the spread of the virus faster and relieve health care workers currently saving lives.
Now it may sound unusual but I miss going to school. It’s the perfect place to learn, have a regular schedule, hang out with friends or in the library so I’ve been quite saddened. Plus, many events have been cancelled so I can’t say I’m very happy to spend my last year in high school at home.
I don’t really know what I’ll do when we’ll be able to go out. It seems like we’ll be really safe around summer so I’ll probably go out with my friends since I dearly miss them !
Finally, I think the President was mostly right in his decisions but the government should have acted sooner, especially because at the beginning, there were only signs to raise awareness about the virus. It’s better to be safe than sorry so they should have close off the borders at the first deaths in China and start testing people. Moreover, we now have a shortage of medical equipments so it shows to an extent how unprepared the country is when facing a crisis. As much as I respect the hard decisions that were made (as should anyone), I’m disappointed in the President and the government, just like during the unanswered protests that took place for months and months ! No matter everyone’s view on them, I find it unbelievable that a country like France could have protests that lasted so long.
Anyway, I only wish that this global phenomenon ends quickly ! Stay healthy !

  18. Hello !

Containment is difficult for everyone but especially if you like going out.
I really miss my friends and spending time outside and also do my sporting activities.
I think the first thing I will do will be to see my friends and just have some fun together.
Finally I think the president did well to start containment but he should have decided sooner. I hope everyone is safe and well.

  19. Hi dear Reader,

I sincerely hope that you are doing alright, and that your family is safe. I also hope that you manage to focus on positive things, even though the situation out there is dire...

I myself try to discern beauty in smaller things. I also started to take more time for myself, which is something I haven’t been able to do for a while. Namely, I listen to music all day long, I draw and write a lot about each place that I am not allowed to visit – that enables me to go there by thought.
However, I deeply miss the “real world”. I miss going for 5 hour-long walks with a friend. I miss looking at the still sea. I miss smiling to strangers in the street. I miss seeing these quiet and moved crowds which occasionally surround a street musician… Well, by now you must have guessed that this is a highly non-exhaustive list!

Today is my birthday, and I am a bit disappointed that I don’t get to celebrate it with my friends. That’s why the first thing I will do when everything is over, is use my birthday as an alibi to invite all my loved ones for dinner.

I truly think that this containment is necessary to mitigate the virus. The president was right to close schools, and entice 'nonessential' businesses to close too, but I think leaving them the opportunity to stay open is a mistake, for all of them don’t have the appropriate protective equipment. There are many other decisions taken by the government that I find irresponsible… But we’re not here to talk about politics! ;-)

    Take care,
    Ania

  20. First of all, I disagree with Charlotte when she said that we should stay home to save the planet, because, we aren't doing this to save it, but to save our selves/lives, and the population. I think that our planet is "eternal", and it's not because it lacks resources, or there is a virus that the Earth will die; that's us who are going to die, because it doesn't need all the things that we need.
Anyway, to answer your question, I'm sure that the activity I miss the most is horse riding, but also highschool a little, because I miss my friends, and working together too; especially because I prefer working at school rather than home. However, the first thing i'll be going when I'll be able to go out is: taking the car/bus and go to see my little pony, because I miss it so much, and if we leave the 11th of May, it will be 3 months that I haven't seen it. And then, I'm going to see my friends.
Finally, I agree with the President's decision, I think it's the best one, even if it is very long and annoying. I think that it's the best thing to do if we want to eradicate this virus. However, in my opinion, there are some problems, because, to eradicate it, we all have to stay home, and unfortunately, the police can't monitor everybody, and I can see a lot of people hanging out for nothing, and without protections, and I think because of that, quarantine will be longer. I hope it will end soon.

  21. Hello everyone,
We have been in solitary confinement for 7 weeks now and it is starting to be very long. It's very difficult in terms of morale because I love going out. I miss a lot of things, like seeing my friends, seeing my family or just being able to take a leisurely stroll as before without restriction. I miss having a coffee or going to a restaurant as well as going to high school. It was indeed our last year of high school and we cannot take advantage of it and we cannot even pass our baccalaureate. If we go out on May 11, the first thing I will do is go see my friends (with the safety distances, of course) as well as walk more than a kilometer from my home. As for the President's decisions, I am very mixed. I find that it is not sufficiently clear and precise and that it delegates all the difficult tasks to the Prime Minister. But he is still trying to do his best for the health of our country, and thanks to the confinement we have avoided an overload of the number of patients in hospitals and a lot of deaths and that is already very good! Until May 11 (if we go out), stay at home, it's almost over !!
