Since we are going through a time of great discontent in France, many people are demonstrating and blocking roads to express their opinions. What other forms of protest do you know and which one is the most effective according to you?
I actually think that in most cases, protesting is a bit useless. Indeed, we live in a democracy, so the government has the legitimacy to enforce its policies, as these are the policies it has been elected for. Of course, people can disagree with the government's reforms, but they shouldn't forget that the government has been elected by the people in both the presidential elections and the legislative elections. (Moreover, these elections took place only about a year ago !) Anyway, I think that blocking roads is the worst way that you could possibly use to express your opinions : it annoys everybody and makes everybody angry, it can be very dangerous and it has a huge impact on our country's economy, as factories and shops suffer from it. Demonstrating can be a better way, but sadly a lot of malicious people participate in demonstrations, which have become very violent. Perhaps the most effective and peaceful way to express one's opinions is to speak with other people and try to convince them, in a respectful and open way. Indeed, I think that if people talked and made compromises instead of blocking roads and demonstrating all the time, our country would be in a much better state.
I think that all this movement about yellow vests goes a lot too far. if we take the example of Paris we can see that they have destroyed everything, whether monuments, shops or cars. I can understand that he is angry but we must not abuse. because rightly the people who bought themselves shops and cars they have worked for all this and they do not deserve everything that happens to them
I think that the best way to protest is not to block the roads and prevent people from working and making their lives, knowing that these people are not the cause of the problems in France and that the cause of all this is neither the president nor the new generations who will work, the cause is all the mistakes of the past that are emerging today. For me, to protest is to write and express your opinion intelligently by expressing yourself reasonably through the many means of expression we have today: all social networks (twitter, instagram, facebook, etc.), via blogs, interviews on TV or in the press, via posters, youtube videos... the means of expression are huge today and there is no need to bother people.
