  1. During Victorian Era , children used a calculator for maths lesson, they used frames with coloured wooden beads like an abacus(the pupils used an abacus to help them with their maths).
Paper was expensive, that's why they used slates and slate pencils to write so they can clear their slates for the next lesson, whereas older cildren used pencils and ink for learnt to write in copybooks.

  2. Victorian School:

Many children in early Victorian England never went to school at all and more than half of them grew up unable even to read or write.
School in Victorian age wasn't free that's why children from rich families were luckier than poor children.
When boys were old enough, they were sent to a public school such as Elon or Rubgy.
Girls were kept at home and taught singing, piano playing and seving.
Slowly, things changed for poorer children too.
So, they were on the same level as rich children. All children under 12 had to go to school.
Now everybody could learn how to read or write and how to count properly.

  3. Playtimes / Drill in "Victorian times"

The children in the same street would play together, sharing marbles and hoops or playing simple games like hopscotch and tag.Ball games were also popular.
In contrast , rich children would have special nursesses filled with toys. When wealthu boys were older and sent away to boarding school , their education would include games like rugby and criket , and the girl riding bicycles and playing tennis.

  4. Hi. I am new to this blog, but i couldn't help overlooking the comments made up schools.I am of the opinion that an education (especially at a tertiary level) is fact becoming a scarce commodity for many individuals in Jamaica.Despite of the fact that as a society, Jamaica as become quite enlightened and there is much interest surroundings the value of education, the reality is, that for many Jamaicans, obtaining an education is becoming far too expensive for the average citizen. In addition, the driving force that would have served to propel one to pursue such, is becoming less and less profound; there are oh so little job opportunities in Jamaica. This begs the question, why get an education when you wont be able to gain a substantial reward after all that input;financially and otherwise?
Nevertheless, the value of an education never grows old of cold. So, i guess, as they often say, 'a word to the wise is sufficient.' This doesn't change that fact that the present situation is quite daunting.

  7. My name is Adrian Reader a senior student at the prestigious Northern Caribbean University. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Engineering. I am a committed, propose driven, goal oriented individual. I enjoy a good game of basketball, football and valley ball. I also love meeting new people and socializing with my friends. Most importantly I absolutely love sharing the good news of salvation, telling others of the soon return of the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ the risen Lamb.
“Uni Sember Discimus” translated where learning never end. This ‘beacon on the hills’ provided a Christ center education and seeks to develop the complete man. This is evident in the exploit preform by the NCU imagine cop team and the stalwarts that of graduated from this noble institution just to give a few example.
Jamaica, which is undoubted the most beautiful place on Earth, has a rich heritage of producing ‘greatness’. Usain Bolt, world number one and world and Olympic champion over the 100 meter and 200 meter and Bob Marley Word renowned reggae artist. The luxurious white sand beach, the landscape that captivate all that behold, and the love and warm express by the Jamaican people is testament of the richness possess by this county. This has put Jamaica on a pedestal.

  9. To answer this question I asked several people around me, so to complete my answer.
Personally, I think that the school is there to educate all students, that is, to give them the knowledge, skills and behaviors that will enable them to find their place in society, to think autonomously and to To become free and enlightened citizens. It must be stressed that it must address all students and have the same ambitions for all, regardless of their social background. The school must be able to educate both those from culturally-favored backgrounds and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Those that parents can help and those that parents can not help.

"First, to leave the family environment to experience" living together "with people his age.
Confront with adults who have a different approach from parents. "

"I've always been told that school is used to learn, to" take "knowledge to evolve, grow, cultivate and perhaps use it later. What we learn also helps us learn more complicated things. And it's true that the school makes it possible to make beautiful encounters, when you are a child and also when you are a teacher ... "

"To understand the functioning of life in community. "

"The school is used to transmit knowledge, values, to exchange, to discuss, to build learning".

"School is used to become free".

"To realize that one is able to do something good even when in the family you are made to believe the opposite. Among others. "
