1. Yes, I agree because most of the time I spend 8 hours in high school during the day and it is very tiring. 2. Personally, I don't agree with listening to music while doing my homework because I find it very disturbing.
1) Yes, I think that we should spend less time at school because in my opinion, it’s not normal to start the day at 8 am and to finish at 6 pm. We have to include the time we spend going back home, eating, taking a shower and doing our homework (in addition, teachers give a lot of homework) so because of this routine, we end this day very late.
2) I agree with this, music can help people to study, but it depends on the music you listen. It’s better to listen a calm and relaxing music and without lyrics.
1/ I extremely agree with that, when you are in school for so many time this is boring and you can be distracted. 2/ I agree and disagree at the same time because there is some kind of music which are very useful for concentration but conversely some kind of music you can’t be concentrate.
1. I couldn’t agree more with the idea of spending less time in school. School is essential because it allows you to be educated, but sometimes it takes up too much space. When we come home from school, we have homework, but we also have a family to take care of. We are not robots, we cannot do everything at the same time and sometimes it is very exhausting. If we spent less time in school we would have more free time to study, spend time with friends and family, but also to rest, because mental health is very important.
2. I totally agree that music can help some people study. This is my case, I cannot work effectively without background noise because I cannot concentrate in an empty room. It can be any type of music: classical, rap, or even rock. I put it at low volume, but it allows me to concentrate more on my work or my homework.
1) I fully concur with this idea because the pandemic made me realise that I can study virtually without going to school. So, it will be better if there are less hours of classes in my timetable.
2) Studying with music can help students to focus more or to reduce stress but It also depends on the type of person someone is. For instance, some people need complete silence to study while others can memorise lessons with music very well.
1)I think the french scool system is bad because frenchs students are in class almost 30 houres by weeks with very longs school days whereas in England for example, students finish class at 2 pm, and they have 25 houres of class maximum by week and we know that English system works better so I think we should change the French school system because it isn't very efficient. 2)Music can help people to study in certain subjects but not in all. Music can help to learn new language like English but I don't think music help to study mathematical or physical. So I think music can help to study languages bu she can't help to study scientific subject.
1. I completely agree with you, we should spend less time in school even if it’s really important to our education and our future. In my opinion stay at school from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. can get tiring and boring in addition all the homework we have to do in the evening we don’t really have a time for ourselves or our family/friends. Spending less time in school will allow us to have more free time. 2. For me it is not really the case, because it disturbs me. However there are some people who practice this and it allows them to concentrate better.
In France nowadays, teenagers go to school from 8 a.m to 6 p.m in average. Should students spend less time at school?
To my mind, starting school early isn't bad because it forces us to get up and be productive at school when we have some energy. However, finishing school at 6 p.m is something that should change. Firstly because at the end of the day we are tired of out day of working and we aren't as efficient and attentive as we are at the beginning of the day. In addition to school work we have homework, we don't all have the chance to live near the school we go to so for some of us going home may take a long time. And when you get home after a long day of studying and long ride home the last thing you want to do is study again, which we are obligated to do. Studying late disrupts our sleeping system and consequently we are tired the next day as well.
Whereas, if we were to finish school earlier we would be less tired because we would have more time to study at home and sleep earlier. Also, spending less time at school would allow us to practice more physical activities that are essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Spending less time at school would be better for the students' physical and mental health, which are really important. And we should try to find the right balance between studying, practicing sports and relaxing.
1) I totally disagree with that subject. In France, on average, student spend time between 8 a.m and 4pm. In comparison, the time spend at school in Spain is included from 9am to 3 pm. It’s a inequality.
2) I again disagree with that subject. On the contrary, in my opinion, music can to decentralise people to study. Indeed, I think that when we study we are more focussed on music rather than on the lesson to learn.
1: I agree because as a student i thing that our school could make an better organized schedule so we can pass less time at school but with the same amount of work and with this we could more focus on working for exemple for an exam or just learning lessons with didn't understood or pass more times on sport and our hobbies.
2: in my experience when i am doing exercises with music i have no probleme working with it and it gives me a nice mood but when i have to prepare for an exam it is impossible for me to try to learn a lesson with music in my hears because i am to focused on the music and not in my lesson. Hello, I totally agree with both of this affirmations. Indeed we should spend less time at school for several reasons : firstly, we (students and teachers) are tired of waking up so early in the morning AND finishing so late. It isn’t productive at all, the fact that we are so tired interferes with our capacity to focus on something, to read, to understand. In the United States of America students usually start the day at 8 o’clock and finish at 3 o’clock and they are certainly more productive than we are. Moreover, we don’t even have enough time to do our homework and so (for me) I do it the weekend, thus I don’t hang out with friends, go out, most of the time because of that. If I don’t do my homework the weekend, I will never have enough time after school to work when I get home at almost 7p.m. It is proven that our system doesn’t work, in the ranking of countries by educational resources and outcomes, France is far ahead of Belgium whose school hours are from 8am to 3:30pm. Secondly, in my opinion music really helps people to study. Because our generation listens to and discovers much more music than before. Nowadays we can listen to it in our phone at any time and music is produced much more simply. And so, if we don’t listen to music there is kind of vacuum. Thus even if we are working, music helps us. When we talk about music it isn’t always something with lyrics but just melodies or even piano.
Finally, France should review the system that we are in and yes music helps a lot to concentrate.
1)We should spend less time at school. I agree with that, I think we have to spend less time at school because we can be very productive at the beginning of the day than at the end of the day. Also allow people to enjoy more free time.
2)Music can help people to study. I'm not agree because listening music at the same time than we work, it's very disturbing.
1) I totally agree with this because I genuinely think that we spend too much time at school. Indeed, French schoolchildren spend an average of 8 to 10 hours at school, we start at 8am to end at 6pm and we still have homework. The problem with this, is that it’s very tiring and does not allow us to have other activities (sport or artistic ones..), develop other talents or maintain a social life. Despite all the hours spent in school, we are not getting the best results compared to other countries and our mental health is getting worse. Thus, I can't see the point of having so many hours of lessons, especially since it has been proven that a student cannot stay focused all day long and that there are certain times that are more appropriate for studying than others.
2) More or less, I think it depends on the music and the people. For example, I couldn't concentrate with certain music, I would like to sing or translate the lyrics, but if it’s only some music without lyrics like lofi one, I think this could potentially help people (and even me) to concentrate to study better.
1) I think we spend a lot of time at school and with the homework we don’t have a lot of time to rest, to spend time with our friends and family or to do some activities. So yes I think we should spend less time at school. 2) I think it depends a lot on the person and the way they work. For some people it can help them to study. But me I can’t work and listen music at the same time because it would prevent me from concentrating and doing my homework properly.
Lily Peyre 1) I absolutely agree, students, especially high schoolers tend to start early and finish school in late afternoons. So it makes things difficult for them to devote their time on activities they like doing or even passions because of the homework aswell that is given by teachers everyday.
2) Music can be a big disadvantage for people to study, but in my case it isn’t. I usually don’t have the motivation to study, and as someone who loves music, it encourages me to study if I’m listening to a music that I love listening to at the same time.
