In the one hand, our gender and our clothes define who we are. Indeed, men and women do not have the same behaviour. Generally, men are more agressives than women and like fighting. Therefore, women are more delicates than men and like dancing. Moreover, girls take care about their outfit and their self-image more than boys. Besides, clothes have a connotation: the suit ia associated to the work and the track, to the sport. Thus, a person who wear a suit is committed to his job.
In the other hand, our gender and our clothes don't define who we are. Indeed, men and women can have the same hobbies, the same job. Moreover, there are differences between men and women like clothes because of socials norms and habits. For example, we see few men wearing a dress. There are a lot of stereotypes on the clothes and the gender but their are wrong: men could dance, cook, and women could fight or have a short haircut.
Finally, our gender and clothes don't totally define who we are. Each person has his own identity and his gender and his clothes don't change who he really is.

    1. I made some mistakes:
      - On the one hand.....On the other hand
      - Men are more agressive and they like to fight
      - Whereas, women are more delicate
      - Girls pay attention to
      - suits are asssociated with work and sportwear to sport.
      - a person who wears
      - men can dance / women can fight

  3. This is not the case for everyone, because style does not always define everyone but for my part , my clothes define me because I often wear very simple clothes since I'm a simple person , I'm not extravagant about how I dress and how I behave . I don't find that it's your gender that should define us but I'm proud to be a woman

Our gender or our clothes don't define who we are. Indeed, some clothes are associated to a certain gender but it is only because of the society and the stereotypes like "Boy should not wear pink clothes" or even "Girls should not wear trousers"...
Those are stereotypes and not the reality. Every people should be able to dress as he wants and should not care about what other people say. Clothes should describe one's personality, likes or dislikes.
Moreover, gender is not a definition of who you are. A women could act like a man or a man could act like a women in every domain. For example, some people say that some sports are made for men (like boxing or combat sports) but, in sport, everyone should be able to do what he wants and surpass people's opinion.
Finally, clothes or gender could define who we are because we want it to discribe our person, not because of someone else judgement.

  5. First, I think that the gender don’t define who we are because we mustn’t judge a book by its cover. Next, I think that our clothes define who we are because it’s our personality, our style and we can be dressed as we want. Then not everyone can follow celebrity style just to be fashionable, it’s our choices, our tastes. I would add that nobody is really fashionable, in brief we have our own fashion that we want to follow and nobody can judge our clothes because everyone is different.

    1. Correction:
We can dress as we wish.
Not everyone can afford to dress like stars in order to be fashionable.
We have our own fashion that we choose and nobody should judge our clothes.

  6. Clothes and gender should not define our identity but in today's society clothes and gender define who we are. Indeed, stereotypes and constraints are associated with different genders, for example: boys should not wear tight pants or wear pink because this color is "reserved" for girls, whereas initially the clothes (if they are representative of the person), are supposed to represent the tastes or the personality of a person. Regarding gender, it should not define what a person should do, a woman should have the right and opportunity to do what a man has the right/can do. However, as we can see, in some jobs, for example, women are paid less / not represented.
In conclusion, Clothes and gender should not define who we are but rather reflect a person's personality / tastes ( clothes for example), but in today's society gender and clothing stereotypes exist.

  7. For me your gender and your clothes can begin to define you but it shouldn’t be what people are trying to define you of. Because I feel like if you’re defined by your gender you're expected to act a certain way because of social construct and preconceived notions. For example when you are a woman people are expecting you to always be polish, gentle and to remain calm just because you're a woman and when some women are in fact behaving that way it can be really oppressing for others to know that because of their gender they should fit in social constructs. Also gender identity can evolve over time which makes it difficult to be defined by something you cannot choose.
For clothes it is kind of different because in theory you can choose how you dress so our clothes could be a good way of defining us. But we can’t always dress how we want because of dress code for example or because you feel forced to fit into imaginary boxes that don't want men wearing skirts for example. But moreover we don’t always have the financial resources to dress however we want so the clothes we wear can even be in disagreement with how we perceive ourselves.
So overall we shouldn’t be defined by our gender or clothes and they shouldn’t define you.

  8. Hi, i want to give my opinion about this subject.
I personally think that our clothes and our gender doesnt define at all who we are. Indeed we all know the "American Teenagers Stereotypes", The blond cheerleaders, the captain of the football team, the nerds and also the gothics. All those style are all linked by the same goal : expressing our style the way we want it.

Furthermore, having a gothic style doesn't mean u are depressed everytime, being the cheerleader doesn't mean u cant succeed in a math test. To sum up my mind, i would say that all styles have their own sterotypes, but it doesnt mean all people are those cliches.

I almost forgot ! I dont have any opinion about the gender because i think, when it's not my body, i shouldn't give any kind of opinion because it isnt my life and my choice.

  10. I think that the clothes we wear can tell about our personality, but I don’t think that it defines who we are. On the one hand because Tuesday I can wear clothes completely different from those I wore on Monday, but I’m still the same person ! And on the other hand, because we don’t all choose our clothes ! Indeed, people who live in the street, without house, without a roof, just buy clothes not to be cold and they buy the less expansive clothes. Now, let’s focus on the gender. First, yes we can choose our clothes, but we don’t choose our gender ! Then, there aren’t only two types of people, so our gender can’t define who we are. Every person is different and unique.

  11. On the one hand, I think our gender and clothing does not determine who we are, because each person has a personnality different from those of others and it is no our way of dressing that will allow a person to determine who we are.
But on the other hand, I think that in our current society these kinds of differentiations are created. For me some people are categorized according to their style and their way of being but that doesn't mean we're able to tell who they are.

  12. Personally I don't think that our clothes can define who we are, firstly because we can have different clothing styles according to our moods and tastes. Secondly, the colours we wear do not reflect our way of thinking and seeing things, for example it's not because we wear black that we see the bad sides of life and that we are sad.
On the gender side, I think it's only society that puts it in our heads that when we are born in a girl's or boy's body, we have to think and dress that way. But there are no good or bad manners that exist. It doesn't matter whether we wear a dress, jeans or jogging clothes, as long as we are who we want to be.

  13. Hello,
There is no denying that's our gender and our clothes is a par of our identity bur it don't defind who we are. stereotypes, for example someone who has a rock style is not necessarily depressed.Or a person who tends to give a lot of importance to what he wears is not necessarily superficial. As far as gender is concerned, for some people it actually defines who they are, but not for everyone. In fact the transsexual people for example were born with the wrong sex, they don't feel in cohesion with the sex that they are.So to conclude, it is necessary to be able to see beyond appearances and to learn how to discover a person without paying attention to his or her appearance.

  14. CORRECTION :

The Gender and clothes don't define everybody since each person has his own personality and one should never judge a book by it s cover . On the one hand my clothes define who I'm because I often wear very simple clothes since I'm simple person . Moreover I don't think that somebody's gender should define who he is because man and woman are not different . For example : woman can like football and man can like makeup if they want but finally I'm proud to be a woman .

  15. Does your gender, or your clothes define who you are? It's a really good question because on the one hand we have the persone who thinks the gender or your clothes define who you are and on the other hand we have people who thinks the gender or your clothes do't define who you are. In my opinion I think the gender or the clothes don't define who you are because you should never jduge a book by Its cover. It's not because somebody is a boy , he can't wear makeup or at the oposite it's not because somebody is agirl, she is obliged to wear makeup. Ineed if a men wants to wear a dress he can and if a woman want to wear withe men clothes she can. to conclude it's not your gender or your clothes define who you are because we define ourselve.

  18. Our clothes define who we are because everybody don’t wear the same clothes. On the one hand, people wear the clothes if they like them because it’s their style and it’s good, but on the other hand, different styles could create segregation with different people because they haven’t the same clothes. To finish with clothes, there aren’t clothes for boy or clothes for girl because everybody can wear what they want and girl could be a tomboy or the reverse.
And I think our gender not define who we are because we can have an outfit different than our personality.

  19. Your clothes or your gender could define you at first glance. For instance, when you meet someone, the first thing you see is his gender and his clothes. They are according to his taste, and the taste define who he is. But when you know the person and his personality, his clothes or his gender are a tiny part of who she is. So the clothes or the gender define you but not totally.

  20. First, I don’t think your gender defines who you are because for example if you’re a girl you are not just a girl and if you’re a boy you are not just a boy. Your identity isn’t just limited to your gender. Indeed, your gender doesn’t define your entire person, personality, it doesn’t determined your tastes, your opinions, etc. In fact, just because you're a boy doesn't mean you have to like blue and cars. These are just stereotypes. And prejudices don’t define someone’s identity. Moreover, clothes are to my mind just a way to feel good, confortable and confident, but it’s also a way to express yourself, your creativity, show your tastes and who you are but obviously it doesn’t tell everything about you. You’re not just defining by the way you dress. Firstly because you can change your style everyday if you want, it depends on your mood, tastes and so many variable things. Then, because there are so many things that can help to define someone that finally nothing can completely define somebody.
