Whether in series, films or books the notion of travelling through time or back in time has often been used.
Imagine you have the opportunity to travel into a time machine knowing there's no way back.
Which era would be the perfect one for you? And why?
If I could travel in the time, I would choose to stay right now, in 2018.
ReplyDeleteI love other eras like nineteenth century or middle age but I think that our era is the best era so far just because of medecine : we can easily cure a lot of diseases. Of course, we have great technologies like computer, mobile phone, etc... We live in a time when we can communicate with a person at the other side of the world.

ReplyDeleteIf I could use a time machine, I would go to the period of dinosaurs, because it's an era which I liked a lot, or Antiquity, because it is the era of great and mythical empires, but at this time, I would go to Egypt, because I love egyptian history. Finally I would go to the future, because I would like to go in the space and why not go on other planets, and try the objects of the future like cars, cell phones, robots... But sadly, the time machine has no return possible and can only make one trip, so I choose to go in the future because in my mind it's an era where I could most fit myself and which looks most like our era.

ReplyDeleteFirst, I think this notion of time travelling is a great and creative way to reinterpret history or to imagine the future.
So, if I had this chance, I would simply go to the future, maybe one hundred or thousand years from now. Because I believe that it's unnecessary to travel back in time, as the past is the past. And we should learn from it rather than try to fix it. Moreover, it would be fascinating to know what humans have become or achieve.
First of all, I really like the idea of travelling through time, it's just wonderful and it could be very useful! As far as I'm concerned, I would love to live in the 20's or 30's and it would be even more awesome in America because this is where Jazz comes from. I think this era would be perfect for me especially because of music, dance and all the atmosphere that goes with it.

Hello ! To begin with, I don't know if I would like to travel through time, as there are so many risks (if you kill your father before you're even born or if you make anything that changes History in an alternate time line) and I quite like the 21rst century.
ReplyDeleteBut if I could go back in time and could not return back in the 21rst century afterwards, I would choose to live in the 1880s (during the French Third Republic) as I really like this period of History : during this era, a lot of great political changes were made (about which we are taught in school), and I think it would be great to live during this period and see the society evolve, and modernize itself.

I mean, there’s too much amazing eras and I don’t really know if I would prefer to live in the past to prevent disasters or rather to live in the future to be able to see the changes in our ways of living. ReplyDeleteFirst of all, if I had the opportunity to travel back in time, I would probably choose the 20th century because it’s an interesting period. Moreover, I could have seen the first computer, the world wars, and the innovations ( medicine, planes... ). Furthermore, in the 20th century, there were lots of new types of music such as « disco », the beginning of the « rock’n’roll ». As I like this era and music, I would have loved to see changes in society, people’s minds, technologies and spaces. Besides, I would have talked with previous generations and exchanged our ideas, our knowledge...
To conclude, it would have been really interesting to do this experience!

Hello, to begin with, I think that the idea of travelling through time sounds really exciting : on the one hand living in the past and so understand what happened even better than any history teacher could ever tell you, on the other hand experience the future and see if it's as bad as everyone predict. But, as you said there's no way back, and that's what makes me hesitate, indeed, as Aurelien wrote, we're living maybe in one of the best eras regarding all the technologic and medicine progress, whereas we could die of a cold not a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, there are a lot of periods that I wish I could have lived : for example the French revolution, the fight against the monarchy for our rights must has been so intense. Then, why not the middle age, because I actually really loved the clothes (and if we close our eyes on all the bad sides of this period). And to finish with, I wish I could participate to the first women's vote in France in 1944 it may has been a strong moment for all of the France, a step to the equality, and, this period itself seemed good because it was the very beginning of the new technology and it didn't take as much of our lives as now, like people had true relationships.
To conclude, I'd say that all the eras had their good and bad sides, the best thing we can do for now is to live in the present without forget the past or neglect the future.

ReplyDeleteIf I had the opportunity to travel back in time with a time machine, I would go back to the 1980s era. I love the music and the overall atmosphere of this era. I think it was one of the most amazing era of history. There were so many new things that were invented. It was a revolutionary era because of all the changes that were made all over the world. Of course, it was at this time that Michael Jackson really started to shine with his albums : Thriller and Bad (which are, in my opinion, two of the greatest albums of that time).

Hello! If I had the chance to travel in time I think I would go back to the 1976 era because I love David Bowie's style in this period (yes it's about Bowie again hehe)! Bowie was so handsome at this time (although he has always been handsome), with his ginger hair and, black and white costume! In 1976, Bowie's music was very refined, with a lot of deep meaning, and very complex too, so I think it would be amazing to live in this period and, maybe, to have the chance to see him in concert! That would actually be my dream!
ReplyDeleteI think I would also like to go back in 1987, because this year is the periode of my favorite Peter Gabriel's concert in Athens! This concert was so amazing and I would love to see him in concert too! In my opinion, in this concert he played the most beautiful songs he made like : San Jacinto, Shock the Monkey, Mercy Street, Sledgehammer, In Your Eyes, Solsbury Hill, and a lot more!

So if I had to choose one of them, I would probably choose the time of the Roman Empire because I'm fond of the architecture like temples or statues.

ReplyDeleteHello ! I think the ideal century for me would be the century of ancient Egypt (around -2000 and -3000) because I love Pharaohs and their culture. Indeed, they managed to build traps and pyramids without technology, which is incredible. However, there was a lot of slaves and only the Pharaohs or Egyptians who had a job lived easily because there was a lot of death.

To my mind, I would prefer to go to the future because if we go in the past, if we changed an event, it could totally change the present. Furthermore, it’s useless to go in the past because what is done is done, we don’t have to change it. But on the other hand, we could meet our ancestors and some famous persons of the past like Einstein, Cesar and why not Jesus; what did really look like the dinosaurs, how was living the Egyptians and prehistoric men and more… But, about me, for secure, I would like to go to the future. More precisely, one thousand years from now, to know how many times French football team will be world’s champion, if we will always be on Earth, what kind of humans we will be (though I know that humans will never change) and a lot of things…
To conclude I would say that I’m divided because for me, our past is more interesting, and the future is more fascinating but also, I don’t want to be disappointed by that.

ReplyDeleteIf I had the opportunity to return to the past, I will choose the Middle Ages! I appreciate this period because the villages were very colorful, there were inside beautiful castles where were held large meals accompanied by various shows (storytellers, mimes, ventriloquists...) and also tournaments.
In addition, the medieval outflits in silk, velvet, fabric adorned with jewels and their hairstyles, I like because I find them very original and sophisticated (but I prefer nowadays outflits...)
Finally, the return in this period will be an opportunity to discover their way of speaking which were very different from ours.

I would like to return in the 70s-80s,because I find that in it's years it was cooler. Especially at the level of social networks because there was not any,I find that nowadays we share everything on networks (insta snap ...),while in this year we live day to day and I would be more cool.
ReplyDeleteChanging the past is something impossible but we are allowed to have dreams. We don't know, maybe in the future somebody will make a machine to travel in time. Whatever, I want to believe it is possible, so if I have one chance to travel in time I want to revert to an earlier stage. I would like to revert in a period I wish I wouldn't need to be preoccupied to my future, I'm not stressed and sad. A period i wish I'm very happy because for me being happy is a lie. Being happy is a mask to hide the reality.

DeleteI think I wouldn't choose to go up in this time machine because in my opinion we shouldn't go into the future or the past because for example the future we don't really know what awaits us maybe we can have a catastrophic future like a magnificent future and precisely that would break the mystery or the suspense of our present we'll say. Then we shouldn't go into the past because if we go into the past and we change our past by our choices or actions it will completely change our current present
ReplyDeleteHello, if I could choose an era to live I will definitely choose the dinosaur's one as a child. My survival time would be estimated at less than an hour but it might be worth it. Imagine seeing all that science has struggled to solve for decades. But you never know, maybe dinosaurs are as big as snails and shout like birds ..
