To begin with, as for me I chose Maude Mansfield's character because we can notice that during all the story she aways tries to help her entourage, just like she did with Mrs O'Flaherty. Nevertheless, she has her little team with Harry and John that wins every challenges. To conclude, in my opinion, as she is one of the main characters of this story, she is really courageous, trustworthy and very nice and handsome as Harry said.
Hello , I have chosen the character of Mrs O'flaherty . She was an Irish witch and she lived in Oxford in the 16th century . Her first name was Susan and she had three children , she loved them . The poor Susan was accused of witchery whereas she wasn't an evil witch . ( 42 Words )
In the first place, The Sorceress is a detective story written by Philippa Boston. In this book, there are many different characters and, in my opinion, all of them have a major role in the plot. Nevertheless, Maude Mansfield impresses me. She's the Jane's sister, and the Michael Mansfield's daughter. She adores Harry Hopetoun more than anyone in the world. Actually, their fathers have been friends as children and the tradition has continue with Maude and Harry. Furthermore, I'd like to point out the bravery of Maude during the investigation. Indeed, one should not forget that this woman on one hand, solves the case, and on the other hand, saves Susan O'Flaherty's children using secret passages. Last but not least, Maude is a strong woman because even if she's not allowed to go out without a chaperone, she goes to Bocardo and finds a stratagem to speak with Susan who is locked.
Hello everyone, I've chosen to talk about Harry Hopetoun, because he is one of the main characters in the story, nearly as important as Maude Mansfield in my opinion. He is definitely in love with Maude (though he is a bit afraid to admit it, probably because he doesn't want to be rejected) and will do anything to help her prove Mrs O'Flaherty's innocence. He is also John de Courcy's best friend.
I am going to talk about Maude Mansfield. She is the Christ Church College Dean's daughter and Jane's sister. She is a clever young woman who is sixteen. She is also a resourceful person , however she feels free to behave like men and she is often disguised like a boy. She has fallen in love with Harry.
To begin, I would like to say that I rather like all The Sorceress' characters, and more generally, the book's plot. Indeed, The sorceress is the next episode of John de Courcy, consequently, we have already tied with the characters and I was glad to follow one more time their adventures in The sorceress... Like most of the people, my favourite character is the heroine Maude Mansfield ! In fact, I especially enjoyed her loyalty which leads her to a great determination to save Susan. Moreover, the historical context makes a woman's life harder than men's. However, even it is more difficult for her to make some actions, she has always a solution (deguised herself like a clerk,...) and I could say that I admire her for her positivity. I also appreciate her avant-garde feminist position ! All these aspects make me a follower of Maude Mansfield !

Hi! I'm sorry to post my comment so late. I would like to describe quickly Goodwife Borden, Pennyquick's cook because no one talked about her yet.
What I find funny and also interesting in this character is her manner of speaking. Furthermore, she is the only who dislikes the Reverend's Stoneworthy's look. This suggests that she knows who is trustworthy and who is not. (40 words) Marie Moroni 2nde2
Hello everybody, As for me, I have to admit that I really enjoyed the book "The Sorceress" because of the suspense that captivated me. To begin with, my favorite character is Maude Mansfield, Jane's sister, who is living in Oxford. As a matter of fact, Maude is really courageous and brave. She never runs away from the obstacle, that is to say she does all that she can to prove Mrs O'Flaherty's innocence. Besides, she takes risks and has good ideas to save Susan. To conclude, we can say that she is the book's heroine.
Hi, I would like to talk about Maude because she is my favorite character. Maude is a young woman of 16 years who has a lot of qualities. Indeed, she is extremely brave and intelligent and helps everyone. I really liked her in the book "John de courcy" and still love her in "the sorceress".
I would like to talk about Maude Mansfield. In the first place, she is the daughter of Michael Mansfield, Christ Church's dean. With her close friend Harry, she managed to proove Susan's innocence but I would like to point out that she took lots of risks (she went to Bucardo to speak with the locked Susan) inspit of her young age ! Lastly, one should not forget that she also hepled John de Courcy in "The fortunes of JDC" to proove his innocence. To my mind, she is a respectful and trustworthy woman. Julien LUSSIEZ 2°2
